- An earthquake and tsunami strike near Anchorage, Alaska. Carl Rodd's Coast Guard patrol boat capsizes; Rodd is rescued by a tribe of Aleuts, the only survivor. While being nursed back to health, Rodd falls in love and marries a young Aleut woman.[1]
