708 Northwestern Street[1] was a residence in Twin Peaks, Washington.

It was owned at different times by the Palmer family, Mrs. Chalfont, and Alice Tremond.

History[]

Leland, Sarah, and Laura Palmer moved into the home prior to July 1983.[2] Following the deaths of her daughter and husband in 1989, Sarah became its sole inhabitant until at least October 2016.[3]

When Cooper's doppelganger reached a portal to Fireman's home in 2016, he was transported to the Fireman's projection room. On the screen was shown the Palmer house.[3]

As of an unknown year, the house was owned by Alice Tremond, who had purchased it from a previous owner Mrs. Chalfont. One evening, Dale Cooper approached the house with Carrie Page, seeking Sarah Palmer. Tremond said she did not know anyone by that name. After asking her about who she purchased the home from, Cooper apologized for bothering her at the late hour and walked away from the house with Carrie.[4]

Behind the scenes[]

In Twin Peaks, a home at 534 S. Lewis Street in Monroe, Washington was used for the exterior of the Palmer home. A house located at 708 33rd Street, Everett, Washington was used for the interiors in the pilot episode. The latter home was used for both the interiors and exteriors in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me and Twin Peaks (2017).

In the finale of The Return, the role of Alice Tremond, the owner of the Palmer house was performed by Mary Reber, the current owner of the home.[5] Reber, who has no prior acting experience, was approached by Lynch about playing the role while he and his crew were doing some location scouting at the house in early 2015, a surprise offer she happily accepted.[6]

The episode's final scenes outside the Palmer house were shot in the late hours of October 2 and the early hours of October 3, 2015. Paparazzi footage of the filming, plus reports of the screams that turned out to belong to Carrie Page, served as the first leaks from the set of the series.[7][8] To prepare for the screams, members of the crew went door-to-door to warn homeowners about the filming.[9]
