Around August 10, 1803, Dominick Renault reached Black Lake after departing from his native Chilliwack.[1]
As of 1888, many of Twin Peaks' residents lived along the shore in shacks.[1]
While in Twin Peaks, actress Sarah Bernhardt damaged her prosthetic leg on the lakeshore.[1]
On September 26, 1987, Andrew Packard faked his death when his boat exploded in its Black Lake boathouse.[2]
By 1989, the lake hosted a water processing plant.[3]
In the early hours of February 24, 1989, Leland Palmer, while possessed by BOB, murdered Laura Palmer. He wrapped her body in a sheet of plastic and placed it in Black Lake.[4] By morning, her body washed ashore by Blue Pine Lodge and was found by Pete Martell as he prepared to fish.[5]
