Jolson was an actor in the film The Jazz Singer.
When The Jazz Singer debuted at the Bijou Opera House in Twin Peaks, Washington, the town's last-surviving Civil War veteran "succumbed to a fatal rictus" upon hearing Jolson sing in the film.[1]
