Pearl Lakes was a series of small lakes near Twin Peaks, Washington.
History[]
In 1927, the Twin Peaks chapter of the Boy Scouts of America camped at the Pearl Lakes. Scoutmaster Dougie Milford claimed to have seen a "giant" and a "walking owl" in the area. He attempted to photograph them, but the film was prematurely exposed. During a Regional Scoutmaster Council meeting, Milford demanded an investigation into the incident. However, his behavior became erratic and he was ousted from the meeting and was asked to resign from the Boy Scouts.[1]
On September 9, 1947, elementary school students Carl Rodd, Alan Traherne, and Maggie Coulson disappeared while on a nature walk near Pearl Lakes. They were found the next day at the Pearl Lakes campground by an Eagle Scout group led by Andrew Packard.[1]
Leland Palmer's grandfather owned a vacation home near Pearl Lakes when Leland was a child. A neighbor named Robertson would flick matches at the young Leland and taunt, "you wanna play with fire, little boy?"[2] Robertson, a spirit better known as "BOB," would eventually possess Leland.[3] In 1989, Deputy Hawk found that the home was then owned by schoolteachers who had no knowledge of Robertson.[4]
Leland's daughter Laura Palmer wrote in her diary about a nightmare involving BOB in the woods by Pearl Lakes. The area would become a common destination for Laura and her boyfriend Bobby Briggs.[5]
Robert Jacoby and Dougie Milford's ashes were spread at Pearl Lakes following their deaths in 1986 and 1989, respectively.[1]
