Secret Diary vs. CardArt vs. Final Dossier[]

Alright, so The Final Dossier gives different details on the origin of Shelly and Leo's relationship than we're given in the Secret Diary, and honestly the Final Dossier version makes a lot more sense than Secret Diary with the dates we're given. For example, based on info given by the show (simply 'dropped out of the eleventh grade to marry Leo') combined with Secret Diary (married by November 1986) and the CardArt (Shelly's birthdate as May 30, 1972) makes her a 14-year-old junior year dropout and wife.

The Final Dossier gives a circa 1987 date (probably about April-May because that's typically when proms occur, but there's nothing in the text to suggest this) for when Shelly and Leo meet (taking the CardArt birthdate into consideration, this would make Shelly 15 or 16, since Tammy says their marriage lasted 'nearly' two years), it lines up a lot better with the show, saying that she was a junior in high school when she met and married Leo.

If we went by the Final Dossier events, it wouldn't be the first time we had to disregard something in the Diary or certainly the CardArt due to a continuity problem. Or we could always make note of both in the article, stating that there 'exist conflicting sources' or something. Whatever we do, I just don't want to confuse readers.

So how shall we proceed? Special Agent Dale Cooper (talk) 04:27, November 1, 2017 (UTC)

I'd go with the most recently released source, and to be honest I think the cards should be relied on only if there's absolutely no other information available. Also it says she turns 21 the year after Leo's death, so I guess May 30, 1969? --Pyramidhead (talk) 05:20, November 1, 2017 (UTC)
Aha, so it does. Also would put her birthdate closer to what we've got for Bobby's, which definitely works out. Special Agent Dale Cooper (talk) 05:28, November 1, 2017 (UTC)
Looking at Final Dossier again and it actually says she turned 21 "within a year" of his death, so would actually be more accurate to put 1968. Special Agent Dale Cooper (talk) 04:53, 26 May 2024 (UTC)

Shelly[]

Forever and always a total babe and great waitress, my favourite Twin Peaks female character! This is a great and informative article about her. KirbyTheBulborb (talk) 23:15, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
