"The World Spins" was a song performed by Julee Cruise at the Roadhouse.
History[]
Cruise performed the song on the evening of March 9, 1989, following "Rockin' Back Inside My Heart."[1]
She performed the song once again in late 2016.[2]
Lyrics[]
- Moving near the edge at night
Dust is dancing in the space
A dog and bird are far away
The sun comes up and down each day
Light and shadow change the walls
Halley's comet's come and gone
The things I touch are made of stone
Falling through this night alone
Love
Don't go away
Come back this way
Come back and stay
Forever and ever
Please stay
Dust is dancing in the space
A dog and bird are far away
The sun comes up and down each day
The river flows out to the sea
Love
Don't go away
Come back this way
Come back and stay
Forever and ever
The world spins
Behind the scenes[]
"The World Spins" is a song composed by Angelo Badalamenti, with the lyrics written by David Lynch. It is performed by Julee Cruise as herself during the final scenes of "Episode 14" and "Part 17." Lynch has regarded the song as his, Badalamenti, and Cruise's favorite of their collaborations.[3]
The song was originally released on Cruise's album Floating Into The Night and later on Twin Peaks (Music From The Limited Event Series). It also appeared on some US and Australian copies of the single "Rockin' Back Inside My Heart".
